Jaisalmer also known as "The Golden City" of India, is situated in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Jaisalmer is the largest district of Rajasthan and lies in the heart of the Thar Dessert. The city was founded in 1156 by Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput King. The yellow sandstone used in every architecture of the city which looks golden in the sunlight that’s why jaisalmer is called the "The Golden City".

Jaisalmer is the popular tourist destination because of its architectures, monuments and temples. The major tourist attractions in Jaisalmer are  Jaisalmer Fort, medieval Havelis, Gadsisar Sagar Lake and Tazia Tower.  Jaisalmer Fort is situated on Meru Hill, It is surrounded by massive sandstone walls.  This is a living fort and about a quarter of city's population live inside the fort.  The fort also has the Raj Mahal, Jain temples and the Laxminath temple inside the fort.
